The 05 women face an exciting match against VfL Bochum and our head coach took the opportunity to pay respect to the upcoming opponent. Bochum has shown that they are strong both defensively and offensively and they are following a clear plan to score the points. So they can be a serious challenger when we compete this weekend.
The girls from Mainz look back on their previous performances in the 2nd Women's Bundesliga. After nine matchdays they are in a good position: 14 points in the account and a comfortable gap of six points from the relegation zone. However, a look at the promotion ranks makes it clear that with five points on second-placed Sand, there is still a lot to do to have a say in the promotion battle. But the coach warns that the table is currently only a snapshot.
Experienced and motivated
The 05 women have played against strong opponents in the past, which is valuable experience for the team. A special encounter took place a year and a half ago when the girls had to compete against Bochum in the relegation and unfortunately missed out on promotion. These memories are certainly buzzing in your head, but the relegation games were deliberately not discussed. Instead, the focus is entirely on the upcoming game and the desire for an away win in Bochum.
The training week went according to plan and the players are highly motivated to perform and take home the three points. It will be exciting to see whether they can satisfy the coach with their performance and whether the fans can cheer again.
