Organic shop Abraxas: Neustadt becomes a cooperative for organic fans!

An exciting chapter opens at the Abraxas organic market in downtown Neustadt. At the turn of the year 2026/2027, the long-standing owner-managed store is to be converted into a cooperative. This decision was already made at the founding meeting of the new cooperative, at which 48 future members elected their board of directors and supervisory board. Loud Rhine Palatinate The cooperative will be called “Genossenschaft Biomarkt Neustadt” and intends to open up to additional members in the future in order to strengthen both the financial and the ideal basis.

Ulli Schröder will take on the role of executive board member, while Achim Bertsch will serve on the supervisory board. Another face familiar to customers is Hildegard Bollenbach, who will be present in the store. Lothar Schmid, the new chairman of the supervisory board, plans not only to maintain Abraxas' existing offering, but also to further develop it.

Organic market with tradition

Abraxas has been an integral part of Neustadt's urban landscape for over 30 years and has proven its place at the heart of the community. The conversion to a cooperative ensures that the store's tradition will continue in the future, with support from the current owners playing an important role. Customers can rely on the usual organic quality, which is regularly ensured through annual inspections by the Federal Association of Natural Foods & Natural Products (BNN). The organic inspection took place in May, during which inspector Christian Strohmeyer confirmed compliance with the BNN product range guidelines.

The days when you had to worry about the quality of the products are over. In Abraxas, customers are not only on the safe side when it comes to food. The wide range of products also includes certified organic cosmetics and detergents and cleaning products. Especially in summer and autumn, you can find many regional products in the fruit and vegetable department, supported by local organic bakeries that provide fresh bread and baked goods.

The offer in detail

But Abraxas has even more to offer. The cheese counter offers both regional and international cheeses, while the natural goods area offers skin care products, natural textiles and baby food. A highlight is the large selection of herbs and spices as well as the special table with changing offers. The beverage department is also small, but diverse, and offers customers a good selection.

  • Obst- und Gemüseabteilung mit regionalen Produkten
  • Brot und Backwaren von drei Biobäckereien: Lummerland, Löwenzahn und Kleinsägmühlerhof
  • Große Käsetheke
  • Pfälzer Bioweinen
  • Hautpflegeprodukte und Naturtextilien
  • Teile mit veganen Fleischalternativen

The unpackaged offer has now existed for almost 30 years and continues to enjoy great popularity. Gluten-free products as well as a selection of regional organic honey and muesli round off the range. The commitment to high-quality products remains in the new cooperative.

Anyone who wants to be part of this new era in the Abraxas organic market can become a member and purchase two shares for 200 euros each. This means customers can not only take advantage of the offer, but also actively contribute to further development. Further information and contact details can be found on the Abraxas website.
