It opens on July 6, 2025 3F German Museum for Photo, Film and Television Technology in Deidesheim opens its doors to the open day. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of media technology. Entry to the exhibition, which includes more than 5,000 exhibits, is free.
Visitors can look forward to exciting free tours at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., each lasting one hour. Another highlight are the demonstrations of professional video technology from the 1980s, which promise pure nostalgia. Film screenings are also planned to share the enthusiasm for moving images.
Activities and offers
There is also the option of having your portrait taken with a classic wooden studio camera. These pieces are not only functional, but also a piece of history that visitors can take home with them.
The sales fair has a lot to offer for collectors and lovers of historical technology. Cameras, lenses and projectors from the museum depot are offered here. Personal treasures can also be brought along for inspection and evaluation. The photographers among the visitors have the opportunity to test the shutter speeds of analogue cameras - without any film.
But food is also not neglected, so that everyone can fortify themselves during their visit. Whether for technology enthusiasts, children or simply for anyone who wants to take a look at the history of image technology, the open day is a real highlight.
About the museum
The 3F Museum in Deidesheim, which is located at Weinstrasse 33, is considered one of the largest collections in Europe. On an area of 400 m², visitors can discover the development of photography from its beginnings to the modern professional camera. The museum is known for its combination of photography, film and television, with numerous technical details and rare exhibits.
Regular opening hours are Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The entry price has been €4.00 for adults since April 2024, while visitors with the Rheinpfalzcard pay €3.50. The museum is also available to answer inquiries by telephone or email.
For safe parking, we recommend using the parking lot at Deidesheim train station, from where you can get to the museum through the old town in about five minutes.
