Eva Herbold is crowned champion of the German triathlon!
There is always exciting news in the world of triathlon - including from Edenkoben. Eva Herbold from LCO Edenkoben achieved fame at the long-distance triathlon in Nagold on August 10, 2025. She played at the top of the official competition at the German Championships in this discipline. The Northern Black Forest Triathlon, which in this form consists of swimming, cycling and a marathon run over 42.2 km, is one of the supreme disciplines among multi-sport events. The aim here is to masterfully combine endurance, strength and speed - a challenge that challenges every participant!
The competition started early in the morning at 6:30 a.m. at the beautiful Nagoldtalsperre. Eva Herbold, who covered the first 3.8 km in the water, initially had to come to terms with a gap of around 10 minutes to the leader. But on the bike course she managed to improve her position and fought tirelessly to move forward. In the marathon, however, she was only beaten by Anna-Maria Melzer from Team Nikar Heidelberg, who crossed the finish line with a total time of 10:01:27 hours. Herbold finished the competition in 10:20:05 hours and secured second place at the German Active Championships. What is particularly noteworthy is that she was also able to win the championship in the W40 age group.
Strong team from LCO Edenkoben
But Eva Herbold wasn't the only person who excelled at triathlon. Her club colleague Patrik Döringer also competed in the long-distance triathlon and took fourth place in the M55 age group with a respectable time of 11:00:40 hours - just 40 seconds behind the coveted podium place. These achievements show once again that the hard training effort pays off.
On the same day, the Summertime Triathlons took place in Kraichgau and were attended by a group of LCO triathletes. Hendrik Kopp, Frank Kiefer and Jochen Acker represented the colors of the club at Sieben-Erlen-See. Kopp used the sprint distance (750 m swimming, 23 km bike, 6.6 km run) and achieved third place in the M30 age group with a time of 01:36:26 hours. Frank Kiefer took third place in the AK50 age group with 02:16:58 hours and Jochen Acker achieved a solid 23rd place in the AK55 age group, finishing with a time of 02:49:55 hours.
Triathlon: A sport on the rise
Triathlon has become increasingly popular in recent years and rightly so! As an endurance multi-sport event that combines swimming, cycling and running, it places special demands on athletes. Triathletes train regularly to minimize transition times between disciplines and optimize their overall time. This sport has its roots in Southern California in the late 1970s and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021 with the first documented event in France, where the combination of running, cycling and swimming became popular. Today, triathlon is recognized as a serious Olympic discipline and attracts athletes worldwide who take on the challenges of the age group system - like the participant from LCO Edenkoben.
A tireless dedication, the will to succeed and a team that stands behind you – the 2025 triathlon season in Edenkoben will certainly produce many more exciting stories and successes!
