Last walk at the ice pond: Seniors meet to get fit together”!

A special highlight is coming up for the seniors in Pirmasens: next Thursday, October 30th, the community sisters Melanie Dedetschek and Lisa Bieber invite you to take a last walk together around the ice pond. Under the motto “Fit together”, this should be a moving experience that not only gets the participants moving, but also strengthens the community. The walk starts at 2 p.m. at the hiking car park on “Am Kiesweg” street and will last around two hours.

The route leads through the picturesque surroundings of the ice pond and is designed to be accessible to everyone - including wheelchairs, walkers and walking sticks. Several break options along the way offer the opportunity to take a deep breath and chat, which further promotes social interaction. Register by phone on 0173 2459952 or by email gemeinde Nurseplus@pirmasens.de is necessary to ensure that all participants can be well looked after.

Movement as an elixir of life

The event joins a series of offerings that encourage older people to become more active. Regular exercise not only has positive effects on physical health, but can also significantly improve mental well-being. This is particularly important because, according to a demographic study, one in three Germans will be over 65 by 2035. This makes it all the more important to promote offers such as the walking project mentioned above, which help to increase the quality of life of seniors.

“Fit together” is not just a simple exercise program, but aims to increase physical and mental fitness in old age and enable an active, self-determined life. In 2026, after a winter break, these valuable offers will continue again on March 27th. The increasing number of older people requires innovative programs that are tailored to the needs of seniors.

The benefits of joint exercise

Such programs are invaluable as they not only encourage physical activity but also enable social participation and friendships. This is particularly important to counteract the social isolation that many older people unfortunately experience.

The upcoming event at the ice pond impressively shows how involvement at a local level benefits the seniors in our community. So let's take part in the walk and get active together - because exercise not only makes you fit, it also brings people together!
