Hanna Veith: An artistic gift to honor the wine princess!

A bright day for the wine princess of Lachen-Speyerdorf: Hanna Veith was delighted to receive a very special gift. The talented wood carver Hans Herrmann created an artistic wood carving for her. This impressive work shows a delicate grape leaf with vines and was crafted with great dedication over 45 hours from high-quality lime wood. The handover took place in a small circle in the princess's garden, where her parents discussed the surprise with Herrmann.

The carving receives a place of honor in Hanna Veith's home. Herrmann, who has already made many other wood carvings for various wine sovereigns in the region, emphasizes the uniqueness of his work. He also carved figures for Veith's predecessors in office as well as wine sovereigns from Mußbach and Duttweiler. The artistic Herrmann has a good hand - his carvings, including depictions of St. Florian, the patron saint of the fire department, are very popular. He is passionate about his hobby and reveals that each piece is unique.

Another example of handicrafts

It wasn't just Hanna Veith who was delighted to receive an artistic gift. In October 2020, Hans Herrmann caused a surprise for the then Palatinate wine queen Anna-Maria Löffler. During a video recording of the “News from the Town Hall” program, he presented her with an impressive wooden figure depicting her. This now stands in the foyer of the Haßloch town hall, together with other figures who tell stories from the region and are widely recognized.

Herrmann's works show a variety of topics. He is known for his nativity scenes, Easter bunnies and historical depictions of rural women who preserve cultural values. His roots in Haßloch and his current living situation in Lachen-Speyerdorf give his art a local touch that connects. The Palatinate wine queen Löffler, who is actively involved in various clubs, expressed her gratitude at the handover and emphasized her connection to her homeland.

Tradition and craftsmanship from the Erzgebirge

When we talk about wood art, we also have to look beyond our region. In the Erzgebirge, for example, traditional craftsmanship is very pronounced. Not only are delicate figures such as angels, miners and nutcrackers made there, but stories are also told. The artisans of this region work with great passion and the wooden figures they create are masterpieces that are assembled from many individual parts. In addition, the figures are hand-painted and carry the memories and traditions from generation to generation. In this way, the past is both honored and a look to the future.

Hans Herrmann's loving wood carving is an example of how regional craftsmanship remains alive and valued. For both the wine princess and the wine queen Löffler, his works are an expression of a deep connection to their homeland and a sign of the appreciation of tradition and craftsmanship in the region.
