New fees for the fire department: cat rescuers now have to pay!
At its most recent meeting, the Pirmasens-Land municipal council addressed an important topic: the new cost rates for the fire brigade. As the Rhine Palatinate reported that chargeable missions primarily concern arson, vehicle fires, hazardous substance operations and accident assistance. Interestingly, however, house fires and cat rescues remain free.
Mayor Klaus Weber stated that there are around ten paid missions every year, which have so far generated a maximum of 15,000 euros in income for the community. In view of legal changes, the number of these operations is expected to increase, which made the decision to adjust the cost rates necessary. Previously, the rates in Pirmasens-Land were relatively cheap compared to the neighboring communities of Dahn or Pirmasens.
The new cost rates
The new pricing structures are as follows:
- Spritzenwagen: 131 Euro pro Stunde
- Großes Tanklöschfahrzeug: 308 Euro pro Stunde
- Personal: 38,30 Euro pro Mann und Stunde
- Schärfen der Motorsägenkette: 5 Euro pro Stunde
Particularly noteworthy is the regulation on abusive alerting, which is now subject to a flat fee of 300 euros. This measure aims to prevent unnecessary deployments and conserve resources.
Prevention and education
Increasing the costs is not just a financial decision, but also part of a comprehensive concept for prevention and education about the importance of the fire department, especially at a time when awareness of fire protection and safety issues is constantly growing. The community also wants to create an incentive to avoid unnecessary alarms.
As Mayor Klaus Weber explains, the fire department not only has the task of putting out fires and helping people in danger, but also plays an important role in the community. It is hoped that these new regulations will provide lasting support to both the fire service and the population.
