TuS Issel is crowned cup winner for the B juniors!
On June 16, 2025, the Rhineland Football Cups took place in the region, and TuS Issel caused a real blast for the B juniors. With a 2-0 win against SG 99 Andernach, the girls from Issel won the trophy and can now play in the DFB Cup. The final took place on an atmospheric Sunday at the sports facility in Asbach in the Westerwald.
“Issel was the better team,” emphasized an observer of the game. The first few minutes belonged to the Isselers, who hit the post through Thalida Olayo after just five minutes - a real warning for their opponents. SG 99 Andernach was active in the first half, but was only able to record one dangerous move that went past the far post. Shortly before halftime, Emely Schabbach made it 1-0 for Issel in the 39th minute and set the course for victory.
Dominance in the second half
In the second half, the Isselers continued their game and dominated the action, but were unable to create any clear scoring chances. Anna Koster found her match on the crossbar in search of the next goal, before Lotte Schmitt finally made it 2-0 in the 79th minute and thus sealed the deal.
Among the B9er juniors, MSG Trier/Obermosel, consisting of VfL Trier and MSG Wellen/Temmel/Nittel, celebrated the championship title. FC Vulkaneifel Manderscheid took fifth place. DJK St. Matthias Trier prevailed in the D7 juniors and left MSG Bekond behind, which took fourth place in the E7 juniors. Bekond was also active in the C9 juniors and finished fourth. An exciting day for female youth football, without question!
Cup winners from previous years
The successes of the Isselers are certainly an incentive for future tournaments, if you look back on the history of the DFB Cup. In recent years, teams like this have proven... VfL Wolfsburg and FC Bayern Munich that the competition in female football is strong. There were some dramatic encounters at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, such as the final between Bayern and Werder Bremen on May 1, 2025, which ended 4-2.
TuS Issel's successes could be a new step in this prestigious football saga. This shows that girls' football in the region is on a promising path and has a lot of potential to offer.
