Anton Schiffer: Bronze at the DM – A milestone for Bike Aid!

The 2025 German Road Cycling Championships took place in Linden near Kaiserslautern last weekend. Numerous riders, including some of Germany's best cyclists, took part in bright sunshine and mid-summer temperatures. The highlight of the day? The victory of Georg Zimmermann, who prevailed in a two-man sprint against Felix Engelhardt.

Zimmermann, who drives for the Intermarché-Wanty team, demonstrated incredible endurance and achieved an impressive time of 4:41:08 hours after 198 kilometers. Felix Engelhardt, who took second place, was only able to beat the winner by a second. Third place went to Anton Schiffer from Team Bike Aid, at the same time as Engelhardt, who happily described his success as his team's greatest national success. “I am surprised by the way the race went and the strong competition,” remarked Schiffer after the race.

An exciting race

The race itself was characterized by changing leads. At the beginning, a supporting group was formed under the names Jonathan Rottmann and Jermaine Zemke, while the Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe team drove things forward with an offensive pace from Lennart Jasch, Jonas Koch and Nico Denz. Maximilian Schachmann, another favorite, pushed the pace on a steep climb and helped split the competition. In the end, however, only Georg Zimmermann and Felix Engelhardt were still able to fight for victory in the sprint.

With Buchmann, Schiffer and Schachmann at the top, the competition was real. On the last lap, however, a chasing group around Lennard Kämna and Florian Stork caught up, which made the race even more exciting. Despite all the turbulence, Zimmermann deservedly prevailed in the sprint and crowned his day with the championship title.

As part of the championships

The 2025 German Cycling Championships took place from June 27th to 29th and included various competitions, including time trials and road races in the municipalities of Ramstein and Linden. Numerous categories took part: from U15 to U17 to elite. It was a sporting festival that attracted the region's cycling enthusiasts. The results and live updates can be followed on the Cyclists' Association website.

The championships were rounded off by the participation of top-class athletes, and the weather conditions also had a strong influence on the course of the race. Many drivers were unable to position themselves as planned, which affected the race dynamics. Days like these show once again how unpredictable cycling can be - and how important it is to have a good handle on the racing action.

For Anton Schiffer from Team Bike Aid, the weekend ends with a well-deserved third place, which could mean a lot for the team. A big step into a promising season!

Coverage of this exciting event was also captured in the SR info news on June 29, 2025, underscoring the importance of the event.
