A busy Christmas: Neunkirchen fire department challenged several times!
The Christmas season not only brings contemplative moments, but also unexpected challenges for the emergency services. In Neunkirchen, the fire brigade was in great demand on Boxing Day and Boxing Day. On Christmas Eve it was still quiet; The fire brigade did not have a single call-out. However, the relaxed atmosphere did not last long, as the emergency services were deployed a total of four times over the two public holidays. Alerts began late in the afternoon of December 25th and continued through December 26th.
On Christmas Day, a fire alarm system in a clinic in the Kohlhof district triggered an alarm at 5 p.m. The news spread quickly and the fire departments from Furpach, Ludwigsthal, Wellesweiler and Neunkirchen city center were alerted. However, it turned out on site that it was a false alarm. The second operation followed just under two hours later on Redener Strasse in the Sinnerthal district, where a fallen tree had to be removed from the road.
Gusts of wind and false alarms
Despite strong gusts of wind, there were no further weather-related operations. However, there were two additional alarms from fire alarm systems late in the evening of December 25th and in the early hours of December 26th. At 10:50 p.m., the Münchwies fire department supported the Bexbach city fire department with a similar alarm, which also ended as a false alarm. On Boxing Day, the Neunkirchen emergency services were finally called to a hospital in the city center around 7 a.m., where the alarm also turned out to be a false alarm. After less than 30 minutes, all emergency services were able to respond again, and the fire brigade was spared from any major operations until midday.
These events shed light on the importance of the fire alarm systems that are installed in many facilities in order to be able to react quickly in the event of an emergency. Despite the false alarms that occur, which account for around 90 percent of all fire alarm alarms, such systems are crucial for safety and first-class fire protection. According to FeuerTrutz, preventative measures and regular maintenance of fire protection systems are essential.
Overall, the Christmas season in Neunkirchen shows that even public holidays cannot protect against unexpected incidents. However, the fire department remains ready to help citizens at all times - regardless of whether it is a real emergency or a false alarm. A quiet Christmas season for the fire brigade remains just a middle ground between operations and contemplation.
