Summer festivals and adventures: Discover Lower Austria 2024!

Summer in Lower Austria is just around the corner and brings with it numerous activities. From July 8th to August 16th, ORF Lower Austria invites you to its annual summer tour, which stops in 30 communities. The moderators Missy May and Rudi Roubinek as well as a team of reporters present the variety of summer activities and quality of life in the individual locations. From St. Leonhard am Hornerwald to St. Pölten and Amstetten – a varied program is guaranteed so that the residents and visitors of Lower Austria can discover the beauty of their homeland. As orf.at reports, a new region is brought into the spotlight every week.

St. Leonhard am Hornerwald and Scheiblingkirchen-Thernberg are on the agenda for the first week. Then we continue to Maria Enzersdorf and Langenzersdorf, followed by Weitersfeld and Golling an der Erlauf in the third week. In the fourth and fifth weeks, places such as Weissenbach an der Triesting, Amstetten and Gastern are visited. Finally, the summer tour leads to Türnitz in the last week. These trips not only show the diversity of the region, but also introduce its cultural treasures and natural beauty.

Weather and culinary highlights

A special highlight during the summer tour will be the program “Guten Morgen Niederösterreich”, in which Christa Kummer explains the most interesting weather phenomena and helpful farming rules between July 15th and August 15th. Listeners can also look forward to weekly coverage of the Summer Olympics in Paris, taking place from July 26th to August 11th. The culinary offer is introduced with the program “Summer in a Glass”, which is about the art of cooking and preserving, every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The radio show “Radio NÖ-Sommerparty” also provides entertainment: from July 19th to August 23rd, listeners can take part in a barbecue party competition. For music lovers there is already a preview of two concerts: On July 5th, the Tonkunstler Orchestra opened with an open-air event on Domplatz, while another highlight is planned for August 31st in Purkersdorf with Wolfgang Ambros.

Leisure opportunities in the region

The advertising by niederoesterreich.at for a summer holiday in Lower Austria is very popular. The region presents itself with crystal-clear lakes, lush green forests, impressive waterfalls and charming wine landscapes. From cycling and hiking, which not only promote fitness, to quiet moments of relaxation in nature, nothing is left to be desired.

The possibilities are almost endless: whether alpine huts, usable show gardens, inviting guest gardens or observation towers, there is something new to discover everywhere. Cultural events round off the offering, with the political summer discussions in “NÖ aktuell” from August 20th to 30th also ensuring political interest - they introduce the party leaders of the parties represented in the state parliament.

A summer full of experiences and deep connections to nature and culture lies ahead. Get the best tips and enjoy the numerous offers while ORF-Niederösterreich accompanies you through the highlights of the season!
