Future of nursing: 35 graduates celebrate graduation in St. Pölten!

The area of social care professions is becoming increasingly important, especially in rural regions. On October 27, 2025, a ceremony to mark the conclusion of a special course took place in the Lower Austrian state parliament in St. Pölten. The certificates from 35 graduates of the “Social Care Professions in Rural Areas” (SOB) course were presented there. State Councilor for Education Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister emphasized the relevance of this training to attract young people to the care sector, which is essential given the growing need for skilled workers, as the 2024 social report bpb.de underlines.

Six students from the Agricultural Technical School (LFS) in Warth were able to successfully complete the course. Julia Kremsner, the course director, described the training branch at the LFS Warth as a showcase project. The course is not only important for the graduates, but also for everyone who wants to work in social institutions. In addition to theory, great emphasis is placed on practical teaching units in order to optimally prepare trainees for their future tasks.

Extensive training for the future

The four-year training at the LFS Edelhof, Mistelbach and Warth covers various focuses: specialist social care with work for the elderly and disabled, nursing assistance and green care. The graduates not only receive the specialist social worker qualification, but also a skilled worker certificate in operational and household management, which qualifies them for responsible work in social institutions. This year, numerous students attended the special training at the LFS Warth, which now also offers open access to adults. This combination of theory and practice is a real benefit given the current needs of society Warth Agricultural Technical School notes.

The demand for nursing specialists in Lower Austria is high. The content of the course includes not only theory, but also important internships. These practical experiences are necessary in order to best master the complex and often challenging requirements in the nursing sector. In Austria, the training period for nursing specialists is usually three years, as a report by bpb.de shows.

A big step for the graduates

The success of the training program in Warth was also recognized by director Franz Aichinger. He thanked the course management and the teachers for their dedication and commitment, which is of great social relevance. The event was also accompanied by music from the LFS Warth school band, which contributed to the festive atmosphere. It is obvious that education in the social care professions is of great importance not only for the graduates themselves, but also for society.

With the right training and a good knack for the challenges in the nursing industry, graduates are well on their way to leaving their mark in one of the most important industries in our society.
