Brutal robbery in Saarbrücken: Police are asking for information about the perpetrator!
Crime has increased in Saarland in recent months, and two brutal robberies in Saarbrücken are now raising questions. The police have published phantom images to find the perpetrators and call on the public to help. The first incident occurred on December 7, 2024, around 10:06 a.m., on the Burbach market. Two unknown perpetrators attacked a man from behind using well-considered tactics that resulted in an aggravated robbery case.
The first perpetrator kicked the victim in the back of the knee, causing him to fall to the ground. At the same time, the second perpetrator, armed with a butterfly knife, put pressure on the victim. The former then searched the victim's pockets and took the wallet. Both then fled in the direction of Helgenbrunnen and Hochstrasse. Fortunately, the victim only sustained minor injuries but was unable to call for help due to a previous illness. Sol.de reports on the incident and the published phantom image of the second perpetrator, which is intended to indicate his probable identity.
Details about the perpetrators
The second perpetrator, as shown in the phantom photo, is male, around 20 to 22 years old and has a southern phenotype. He is approximately 180 cm tall, has short dark hair and a noticeable full beard, complemented by bushy eyebrows. He was dressed in black clothing with a hood attached. Witnesses who can provide information about him or his whereabouts are asked to contact the Saarbrücken-Burbach police station, telephone: (0681) 97150. Blaulichtreport Saarland adds that investigations are ongoing into particularly serious acts of robbery, after the first incident was overshadowed by another robbery three hours later.
The second incident occurred later on the same day at around 8:00 p.m. in a park between St. Josef Street and Kirchbergschule. A 59-year-old man who was meeting a dating app user who identified himself as “Karim 18” was asked for money by a group of 5-6 people. The situation escalated when one of the perpetrators hit him in the face. The alleged “Karim” fled, while the other perpetrators attacked the victim with batons and pepper spray, seriously injuring him. The phantom photo of “Karim 18” shows a 16 to 17 year old man with a slim build and a southern appearance.
Increased security situation in the region
The incidents have raised security awareness in the region. Data from the police crime statistics (PKS) show that such serious offenses are the focus in Saarland. Every registered crime provides valuable information that contributes to the fight against crime, but according to [saarland.de](https://www.saarland.de/polizei/DE/themen-fragen/kritikitaet/statistics/ criminalitaet_bek%C3%A4mpfen_node) it only reflects part of the reality, as not all crimes are reported. The dark field, i.e. crimes that have not been reported, often remains hidden.
The police rely on the public's help to bring perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of citizens. Do you feel uneasy after these incidents? Think about how you can stay mindful in everyday life and inform your neighbors. You can achieve a lot together.
