Discover the secret of the recycling center: Visit on October 28th!
Off to St. Johann: On Tuesday, October 28th, the Central Municipal Waste Management Company (ZKE) invites you to an exciting tour of the recycling center and the largest used goods department store in Saarbrücken, the “Wertstatt in der Bogenhalle”. The event starts at 5 p.m. and lasts until 6:30 p.m. The meeting point is on “Am Holzbrunnen” street and participation is free, but places are limited – a maximum of 15 people can take part. Anyone interested in the tour should register by Friday, October 24th at the latest at the adult education center of the Saarbrücken regional association, which is organizing this event in cooperation with the Center for Education and Career Saar (ZBB).
A look behind the scenes of the recycling industry awaits participants. The focus is on the preparation and beautification of used furniture. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the wide range of second-hand goods offered on two floors. There is also a tour of the recycling center, complete with information about the recycling potential and a lecture about waste generation and recycling in Saarbrücken. This event could not only be educationally valuable, but also offer some very practical tips on waste and recycling.
Variety of recycling options
But what exactly is accepted at the recycling center? There are a whole range of materials that can be made available for recycling. From waste paper and cardboard to various types of plastic to building rubble and scrap, there are many ways to actively support waste management. Garden waste, old textiles and even vehicle batteries are also commonly accepted materials. If you are unsure, you should contact your nearest recycling center for more detailed information about accepting certain waste, whether free or for a fee. This information can be extremely helpful for anyone who wants to make an active contribution to the environment.
Proper disposal of waste is more than just a chore. Every year in Germany, a comprehensive waste balance is drawn up, which also includes important data on plastic waste, which is recorded under “mixed packaging/recyclables”. Especially in times when our waste volume is increasing, it is important to be aware of the correct disposal and recycling. The plastics that end up in the gray bin are also statistically recorded. The thematic page of waste management offers some informative insights into this.
Everyone can make a contribution and, with a good knack, optimize their own waste management. The event in Saarbrücken offers an excellent opportunity not only to learn more about how to handle recyclables, but also to actively participate in your own community.
The Saarbrücken Regional Association of Adult Education Centers is available for further information. Anyone interested can call +49 681 506-4343 or send an email to vhsinfo@rvsbr.de send. Don't miss this opportunity and discover what's possible in the world of recyclables!
