THW Kiel on the way to Bosnia: Dream start to the tournament!

THW Kiel has completed an intensive training camp in Graz this week and is now on its way to the Bosnian town of Doboj. The team is taking part in the 56th International Tournament of Champions, with three games scheduled in just four days. The team has already shown impressive form and wants to implement this improving form in the tournament. In their first opening game, the Zebras were able to record a clear victory against MRK Sloga with 40:27. Leon Nowottny showed particular strength in goal and saved 12 shots, while Johann Rohwer shone with four goals.

But the squad is significantly reduced with only 14 available players. Injuries are troubling the team: among others, Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas, Hendrik Pekeler, Eric Johansson, Emil Madsen and Petter Øverby are out. Despite these hurdles, THW captain Domagoj Duvnjak is optimistic and emphasizes the potential of his team. “We have character and the ability to assert ourselves in difficult situations,” said the captain.

Next challenge

The next game against VfL Gummersbach is on Thursday, and the schedule doesn't leave much room for rest. In order to secure a place in the final on Saturday, a win is mandatory. In addition, THW Kiel will soon appear at the Super Cup on August 23rd in Munich against Füchse Berlin - another test of their current form.

A strong team and a motivated environment will be crucial this week to show the necessary performance. “I'm past the point of believing that the whole world is against me,” said Hendrik Pekeler about the challenges that the injuries bring with them. This mentality could be worth its weight in gold for the team on Thursday.

A look outside the box

While the sports world focuses on the tournament, an outlook on current developments in other areas should not be missing. For example, Apple is getting ready to release the new iPhone 17 series. The unveiling is scheduled for the first week of September 2025, possibly on the 9th or 10th of the month. The new lineup will include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and the iPhone 17 Air, which will replace the iPhone 17 Plus. What is interesting to note is that the iPhone 17 Pro price in India is expected to start at ₹1,45,990.

In a completely different corner of the world, the senior living community Corso Atlanta, which recently won several awards, is also being celebrated. Inspired by European cities, it offers a stylish ambience and a variety of amenities that allow residents to live in resort-like style. The impressive awards, including the Gold Award from the EFA Dining Competition, testify to their outstanding quality and commitment to senior care.

All of these developments show that there is exciting news that keeps people busy not only in sports, but also in the areas of technology and living. Whether in handball or the latest smartphone – the signs point to progress.
