Neumünster starts new economic advisory board – focus on safety!
Neumünster has just launched a new “Neumünster Economic Advisory Board” and that is something to behold! The advisory board is made up of 60 members of the general assembly of the Kiel Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), although only six of them are from Neumünster. The committee is headed by Peter Plambeck, an established feed entrepreneur from Bruges, while Stefanie Fröhlingsdorf, the hotel manager of the Alte Stahlwerk, acts as deputy. [kn-online] reports that other entrepreneurs such as Olaf Dähmlow, Sven Hägermann and Christian Wigger also belong to the committee. Together they have the goal of bringing a breath of fresh air into Neumünster's economic development and working closely with the city.
A central concern of the new advisory board is safety in the city center. The members agree: Security is a crucial location factor that should not be underestimated. Stefanie Fröhlingsdorf in particular expresses concerns about the safety of female guests in the city center. The plan is to work in close cooperation with the city and the police on solutions to increase the feeling of security in Neumünster.
Urban development in focus
In order to underpin the holistic concept, the economic advisory board is planning a city center concept to improve the quality of stay and strengthen Neumünster's identity. According to [shz], the development of commercial areas and a business-friendly orientation of the city administration should also be on the agenda. This also happens against the background that Neumünster is considered the No. 1 logistics hub in Schleswig-Holstein and is economically dynamic.
“We have to join forces,” emphasizes Plambeck. The aim of the advisory board is to develop an “impulse paper” by the end of the year, which will be presented to Mayor Tobias Bergmann (SPD). This strategy is intended to better represent the economic and locational interests of the members.
Reservations and challenges
But not everything goes according to plan. Peter Plambeck warns of possible companies moving away if trade tax is increased. This also shows how important it is for entrepreneurs to have a good hand in city politics. Ultimately, it's not just about securing existing companies, but also about a healthy division of labor between the city center and commercial areas, as the IHK itself emphasizes. These aspects are essential for a functioning and lively city center.
With an active and goal-oriented approach, the advisory board wants to continue to ensure that Neumünster is not lost sight of and establishes itself as a vibrant and economically strong city. It remains exciting to see which ideas and measures will be implemented by this new committee and how they will influence the development of the city.
