Bordelum's outdoor swimming pool remains closed: support association is planning major renovations!
It is a sad picture that currently presents itself in the Bordelum outdoor swimming pool. As the shz.de reports, the popular bathing activity will remain closed this summer. The reason? A comprehensive renovation plan is on the agenda because the outdoor pool urgently needs care and attention. At the moment, those responsible have drained the water, while dried leaves give the pool an abandoned look.
The members of the Bordelum swimming pool support association are full of enthusiasm to initiate the necessary measures. Their goal is to renovate the outdoor pool and counteract its deterioration. The dedicated swimming pool team currently consists of just three volunteer members – a lifeguard, a cashier and a technician. While the lifeguard ensures safety, the cashier takes care of selling entrance and annual tickets as well as providing snacks and drinks. The technician monitors the water quality and ensures that everything is ready for bathers.
Support and outlook
But the situation is nothing but a challenge. The support association is actively looking for new members and donations to enable the planned demolition and basic renovation in the next 2 to 3 years. “It takes a good hand to make this property shine in new splendor,” said the members of the association. They hope that their efforts will soon create a place of joy and community for all age groups, as was once intended.
The Freibad Borssum Support Association e.V. shows how things can work differently. Here, committed citizens saved the outdoor pool from decay and brought it back to life. Thanks to countless hours of volunteer work and generous donations, the outdoor pool there is flourishing again. The members have renovated the pools and designed recreational areas that invite you to linger.
Both initiatives face similar challenges, but also share hope for a better future for their outdoor pools. The goal of both clubs is clear: a lively place that not only offers fun and relaxation, but also strengthens the community.
If you are interested in getting involved or would like to find out more, you can find further information on the clubs' respective websites. In Bordelum and Borssum, work continues to save and preserve the outdoor pools - a great thing for the region!
