On Sunday morning, October 27, 2025, there was a room fire in an apartment building on Karlstrasse in Itzehoe, which made the apartment uninhabitable for the time being. A mother, her two children and a relative were rescued. The material damage is estimated at around 25,000 euros. The investigation into the cause of the fire, presumably a fallen candle, was started by the criminal police, as the Tagesschau reports.

In detail, the head of operations deployed various vehicles, including turntable ladders and fire-fighting team vehicles, in order to launch a fire-fighting attack quickly and in a coordinated manner. When the emergency services arrived, thick smoke was coming from the window of the affected apartment on the first floor, which posed a serious danger to the residents. Fortunately, they had already been able to leave the apartment Itzehoe fire brigade.

To prevent the smoke from spreading into the stairwell, the emergency services used a smoke curtain. A team wearing respiratory protection fought their way into the apartment to fight the fire. The fire was eventually located in the kitchen and extinguished using a C-pipe. Thanks to the consistent and quick measures, surrounding apartments could be checked and ventilated, reducing further risks for residents.

To reassure: A person with suspected smoke poisoning was immediately handed over to the emergency services. This shows once again how important it is to act quickly in an emergency.
