Baltic Sea in flames: Grömitz is preparing for a mega event!
The spectacular event “Baltic Sea in Flames” will take place in the beautiful community of Grömitz on Friday, August 29, 2025. Last year, numerous visitors enjoyed the impressive fireworks display, and this year around 60,000 guests are expected again. The big spectacle will be ignited from the pier at 10:45 p.m. sharp and will last around 20 minutes. Responsible for the pyrotechnic performance is Ostsee Pyrotechnik, which used over two tons of explosives last year.
In order to optimally cope with the influx of visitors, the pier will be closed from August 28th. Access will then only be possible for guests of the diving gondola and the sailing ship “Loth Lorien”, supported by the DLRG. The pier will be completely closed on the day of the event, so it is advisable to find suitable parking spaces well in advance.
Parking options and arrival
For the journey to Grömitz and participation in the event, special parking areas will be set up at the tournament meadow from 2 p.m. on August 29th. Parking costs are 20 euros for overnight vehicles, and the vehicles must have cleared the area by 10 a.m. the next day. Additional parking spaces are available at the clinics for short-term visitors. Particular attention should be paid to the special parking space at the marina, which is available from 3 p.m. and must be vacated by 7 a.m. the following day. All information is on the website groemitz.de/ostsee-in-flammen to find.
Catering and supporting program
Culinary enjoyment is also not neglected with “Baltic Sea in Flames”. There are numerous restaurants and snack bars along the promenade, offering a wide range of food, including Asian delicacies, burgers and sweet snacks. A special highlight is the barbecue in the Soul Beach Club, which promises a relaxed atmosphere. For the little guests there will be an exciting pirate festival on the Uferstrasse from 2:30 p.m. From 6 p.m., the event will also be accompanied by music with DJs, bands and solo artists at various locations.
If you would like to experience the fireworks from the water, you can do so from your own boat or on a sailing ship from 9:30 p.m. A two and a half hour trip is hereby offered.
Grömitz and the Baltic Sea
Grömitz is not only known for its impressive fireworks displays, but also for its location on the picturesque Baltic Sea. This is an arm of the Atlantic Ocean and stretches along nine countries, including Germany, Sweden and Denmark. With a unique mix of fresh and salt water, the Baltic Sea is the largest brackish sea in the world. Its coasts are surrounded by beautiful nature and offer numerous opportunities for beach or water activities. Particularly popular travel destinations along the Baltic Sea are the Kaiserbad Usedom, the historic cities of Stralsund and Greifswald as well as Rügen with its famous chalk cliffs.
The ecological challenges and climate change influence the maritime ecosystem of the Baltic Sea, which is important for residents and visitors. Nevertheless, the region remains a popular place for tourists who enjoy the diverse offerings and hearty hospitality.
Whether you are traveling to Grömitz for the fire spectacle or want to explore the tourist highlights of the Baltic Sea coast, summer in this region is fun and offers something for every taste.
