Horse Festival of the North: Over 80 competitions and exciting innovations!

On August 16th and 17th, 2025 the famous one will take place again in the state tournament area in Bad Segeberg 28th Horse Festival of the North celebrated! The Equestrian Sports Association Schleswig-Holstein e.V. (PSH) invites all riding enthusiasts and those who want to become one to a colorful weekend with exciting competitions and lots of action. Around 1,000 riders, accompanied by around 500 horses and ponies, are expected to compete in up to 80 different disciplines.

This year there are some interesting new features that make the festival even more attractive. This includes the first skills competition in the trend sport hobby horsing, a new “beginner class” for the popular mounted games and the “The Old Horse” test, which also makes it possible to offer a stage to older horses aged 20 and over.

A highlight for young and old

The horse festival is aimed not only at experienced athletes, but also at hobby riders and families. Admission is free and up to 5,000 visitors can look forward to a varied program. A particularly entertaining highlight are the“Working Equitation” competitions, putting the riders' skill and teamwork to the test. Different breeds of horses such as Icelandic horses and Shetland ponies are used, which will delight the audience with their tricks.

But it's not just the competitions that are the focus. Various participatory activities and offers from local clubs and companies also offer the opportunity to become active yourself. Here everyone can try out their skills, be it vaulting or driving a team, and become part of the action.

The physical well-being of the visitors is also taken care of: a diverse selection of gastronomic offerings ensures that no one goes hungry while watching the exciting competitions. There will also be numerous exhibitors on site presenting everything related to equestrian sports.
