Construction site chaos in Schleswig-Holstein: Important closures until July!

What is the traffic like in Schleswig-Holstein today? A look at the current construction sites and closures shows that there are all sorts of changes on the roads. On June 20, 2025, the authorities will use the opportunity to create numerous construction sites and thus significantly influence traffic. The total length of the road network in Schleswig-Holstein is an impressive 9,874.557 kilometers and it includes motorways as well as federal roads, country roads and district roads. According to reports from KN Online, the overview is updated regularly so that drivers are always aware of what is happening on the roads.

Now to the construction sites that may affect driving in the coming days. The A1 motorway is particularly affected, where there will be a complete closure of the south-Hamburg road at the Bargteheide motorway junction from today until June 22, 2025. Further restrictions are in place between Neustadt-Pelzer Haken and Lensahn and traffic realignments and construction work are also planned here by the end of the year.

Important restrictions on highways

But drivers also have to be prepared for some diversions on the A21. The Klein Barkau Ost junction in the direction of Kiel will remain closed until August 2025. Anyone driving on the A23 should also be careful: various closures will occur between Pinneberg-Nord and Halstenbek/Rellingen from June 23rd to the end of July 2025. Road users must expect delays here.

The A210 brings a little relief, with short-term closures at the Melsdorf junction not keeping drivers affected by construction work waiting for too long, but also remaining affected until the beginning of July 2025.

Of course there are also construction sites on the federal highways. Above all, the B75, where roadway renovations will take place between Stubbendorf and Hamberge until September 5th, 2025, as well as the work on the B206, which will continue until June 27th. The B404 and B432 are currently construction hotspots that drivers should avoid.

There are construction sites and speed cameras around the streets

And what about the county roads? The same picture emerges here. From the full closure at Ahrensbök to the construction of a new bridge at Dreggers, many restrictions will occur until December 2025. In order not to be disturbed here, it is advisable to watch the traffic carefully.

In addition to the construction sites, the traffic situation website states that there are currently no specific reports about hazards such as black ice or thick fog. However, drivers should take a look at the information about speed cameras, as mobile and fixed systems often provide additional controls. It is recommended to drive with particular foresight to avoid getting into one of the dreaded “ghost driver” situations.

And where are we in terms of road safety? EU statistics report ongoing improvements, but it is crucial that drivers continue to keep structures and safety in mind during these changes.

Armed with all this information, road users should be well prepared. Whether you're on the way to work or on planned excursions - a little patience can't hurt.
