Volt Schleswig-Holstein is starting into the future with a new dual leadership!
The political landscape in Schleswig-Holstein is changing noticeably. At the recent Volt Germany state party conference in Kiel, a new dual leadership was elected that is intended to bring a breath of fresh air into the party. Kim Christin Holzmann, 36 years old and a business economist, will steer the party's fortunes together with Christian Schweckendieck, 49 years old and a professional soldier. Both see it as their responsibility to pave the way to the state elections in 2027 and to further consolidate the party. Holzmann is convinced that Volt has now arrived in Schleswig-Holstein and has successfully built up the structures and teams. Another goal is to strengthen European unity, as Schweckendieck points out.
With regard to the past elections, Volt has already had some successes. In the 2025 federal election, the party was able to achieve 0.9 percent of the vote in Schleswig-Holstein. The results in the 2023 local elections are particularly pleasing, where Volt achieved 1.2 percent in Flensburg and 1.5 percent in Lübeck, which earned both cities a mandate in the city councils. This comes as part of impressive membership growth that has taken place since the European elections. Rita Bruns, the chairwoman of the Volt Schleswig-Holstein regional association, emphasizes that the party has tripled its membership since the European elections on June 9, 2024.
Schleswig-Holstein achieved a good result in the European elections; The party received 2.5 percent of the vote here, with even 5.2 percent achieved in cities like Kiel. This growth further motivates members to advocate for forward-looking and evidence-based policies. Volt positions itself as a fixture in the political landscape and attracts the attention of voters through a Europe-friendly orientation.
Part of the European movement
Volt is not just a local party, but part of a pan-European political movement. This advocates for a united, sustainable Europe and promotes issues such as innovation, sustainability and social justice. Their strategy focuses on concrete solutions and best practice examples from other European countries. The call for a modern, cosmopolitan society that tackles challenges together, without ideological blockages, is essential for Volt.
With the upcoming European elections, 35 parties have applied for the voters' favor, including Volt. The party is among the approved organizations and is therefore in competition with big names such as the CDU, SPD and the Greens. Your top candidate for the 2024 European elections is Damian Hieronymus Johannes Freiherr von Boeselager. It represents the young, dynamic direction that Volt is striving for and is symptomatic of the change that the party wants to bring about in German politics. A strong result could help Volt gain more influence on the political agenda and further spread its vision for Europe and Germany.
The coming months will be crucial to see how Hamburg and Lübeck voters decide and whether Volt can continue to gain relevance as a young force in Schleswig-Holstein politics. One thing is certain: there is something on the horizon, and Volt plans to get to the top with fresh ideas and a strong team.
