Karl May Games 2025: Brilliant premiere of Halbblut is imminent!

In Bad Segeberg, preparations for the 72nd edition of the popular Karl May games are in the starting blocks. On June 28, 2025 the time has finally come: “Halbblut”, the new spectacle, celebrates its premiere in the Kalkberg Arena. How n-tv reports, the first scenes can be seen a week before the big event, and rehearsals have been in full swing for three and a half weeks.

The stage design will transport the audience to a magnificent setting: a train set is combined with riders and spectacular stunts on galloping horses. New this season is the Southern-style set design, including an impressive white villa reminiscent of "Torches in a Storm" and "Gone with the Wind."

The two main characters, Old Shatterhand and Winnetou, will appear on stage together again. Alexander Klaws takes on the role of Winnetou for the fifth time, while Bastian Semm delights the audience as Old Shatterhand. In addition, Sonja Kirchberger and Francis Fulton-Smith will play the gangster couple Charles and Donna Leveret. The production costs for this spectacle amount to around 6.5 million euros. To cover costs, revenue of at least 200,000 paying guests is required. A tradition with history

The Karl May Games have an eventful history: they were first performed in 1952, and since then the Kalkberg has established itself as a permanent institution in the event calendar. The Kalkberg itself has an interesting past: gypsum was mined here until 1931, before the stadium was built. Over the years, the stadium found various uses and developed into a location for large events. A total of 72 performances are planned for the coming season until September 7, 2025.
