A cheering hustle and bustle on the Kiel Canal: The SH Netz Cup will take place for the 25th time in Rendsburg from August 8th to 10th, 2025. This year the event will feature a variety of sporting competitions and an extensive musical supporting program. The first day of competition starts on Friday at 5 p.m. with a ceremonial opening, which is accompanied by a shanty choir. NDR Schleswig-Holstein reports in detail about the festivities.
The SH Netz Cup is considered one of the most renowned long-distance rowing races in Europe, which has been held annually since 2001. The heart of the action will be the 12.7 kilometer long rowing marathon from Breiholz to the Rendsburg district harbor. This time the international women's double sculls will compete for the first time and will provide exciting competitions alongside the men's eights. Representatives from Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain will compete in fair competition, with participation in the various sports open to everyone. A colorful program for the whole family
The SH Netz Cup has something to offer for everyone. On Saturday, the audience can choose between various competitions such as the SparkassenCanal Triathlon and the Ergo Cup of the volunteer fire departments. In addition to the sporting events, an adventure mile ensures fun for young and old: everything from a pirate climbing tower to a bouncy castle to a children's climbing garden. Musically it doesn't get boring either. On Friday, the well-known musician Max Giesinger will be on stage to delight the audience with his hits. It continues with JusToto, Micha Mark and Chris Norman on Saturday. A special highlight will be the LED drone show on Saturday evening, where around 100 drones will dance in the sky. Sunday ends with a spectacular fireworks display – a crowning conclusion to the event.
Important information about arrival
The organizers make the journey particularly easy. A free shuttle service runs every 15 minutes between the Nordmarkhalle car park, the central bus station and the event site. And cyclists also get their money's worth, as there is an unguarded bicycle parking lot. Please note, however, that there may be increased traffic on the day of the event, so it is advisable to arrive early.
