Something is happening in Saxony! Creative minds, teams and aspiring companies can now apply for the Saxon Founder Prize 2026. As the South German newspaper reported, the application deadline runs until February 25, 2026. The renowned event brings innovative business ideas and start-up concepts to light, regardless of whether they are already on the market or not.
Saxony's Economics Minister Dirk Panter emphasizes that the prize not only celebrates newcomers to the start-up scene, but also takes established start-ups into account this year. This further strengthens the visibility of the start-up culture in Saxony, which certainly contributes not least to revitalizing the innovation climate.
A competition with diverse categories
Applications will be evaluated in several categories. The Saxon Founder's Prize is awarded in the following areas:
- Newcomer des Jahres: für Teams oder Unternehmen, die 2025 gegründet haben oder bis Ende 2026 gründen wollen.
- Start-up des Jahres: für Unternehmen, die zwischen 2021 und 2024 gegründet wurden.
- Scale-up des Jahres: für Unternehmen, die zwischen 2016 und 2020 gegründet wurden und stetig am Wachsen sind.
- Sonderpreis „NextGen“: für junge Gründer.
In addition to the innovative content, the criteria for the evaluation also include customer benefit and market opportunities. Winning the Saxon Founder's Prize gives participants access to a valuable network that includes over 12,000 contacts and from the futureSAX GmbH is organized.
Review of the Founder's Prize 2025
Last year, several companies were awarded the Founder's Prize, including:Soul of Concrete GmbHfrom Dresden and thewindfire GbRas well as theSaxonQ GmbHfrom Leipzig. There were a total of 99 submissions from different regions of Saxony and that shows how active the start-up scene is.
The prize will be awarded on June 17, 2026 as part of the Saxon Innovation Conference in Dresden. This is another right step towards promoting the start-up culture in Saxony, which not only wants to advance new ideas, but also already established companies.
