New restaurant Rakisuta” in Laupheim impresses with sushi and bowls!
With the new restaurant “Rakisuta”, the city of Laupheim experienced a culinary enrichment on June 13th. Hongbin Chen, who came to Germany from China 20 years ago, has cooked in various cities over the past 17 years and has now realized his own gastronomic vision. In the bright and friendly rooms of the basement of the Hotelgasthof Krone, Marktplatz 15, guests can now immerse themselves in the world of Asian cuisine, especially the combination of Chinese and Japanese specialties.
The cozy restaurant offers space for nine tables and focuses on sushi and bowls, which are particularly popular with young people. Chen and his wife Yingying Tang run the restaurant without additional staff, which is intended to create a family atmosphere. The menu includes homemade dumplings “Gyoza”, fried noodles and a variety of sushi variations such as “Maki”, “Nigiri” and “Ura Maki”. Various bowls – both vegetarian and with meat or fish – are also offered.
Diverse Asian influences
Asian cuisine is becoming increasingly popular in Germany. According to a report by Stadt-Tipps, the range of Asian dishes is now enormous and ranges from street food to fine dining. Variations from different countries bring exciting taste experiences, and in Laupheim this trend is also being taken up by the new restaurant “Rakisuta”.
Ramen soups and dumplings in particular are increasingly in demand. Dumplings are filled dumplings that can be prepared in different variations. The offerings at “Rakisuta” will also be varied, in addition to the sushi counter, where Chen plans to prepare the sushi dishes directly.
Growth of Japanese cuisine in Germany
Japanese cuisine is becoming increasingly important in Germany. According to Washoku agent, the number of Japanese restaurants in Germany increased from around 1,000 in 2018 to almost 1,840 at the beginning of 2025. Sushi and ramen are particularly popular snacks among younger consumers, and sushi's market share in the snack and fast food sector has increased to over 30 percent within a few years.
A clear indication of the growing interest is that 39 percent of German sushi consumers are under 30 years old. This makes “Rakisuta” a perfect place to go for young adults who are enthusiastic about Japanese cuisine and are looking for new taste experiences. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. The kitchen only remains cold on Mondays. Takeaway dishes are also on the menu, while delivery is currently not possible.
Overall, the new restaurant not only represents a significant expansion in the Asian dining sector, but also meets the demand for authentic and fresh dishes. “Rakisuta” thus contributes to the culinary diversity in Laupheim and closes a gap in the gastronomic market.
If you are wondering about the next food hotspot in the city, you definitely shouldn’t miss “Rakisuta”. Whether it's a variety of sushi or Asian delicacies - everyone will find what they're looking for here!
