Strong performance at the village championship: Stammtisch I secures victory!

The Cologne shooting and village championships are in full swing, and a special highlight can be found today, November 3rd, 2025, in the small-caliber village championship of the Biberach/Asch shooting club. This event has now taken on a new dimension: for the first time, people shot from a sitting position with a small caliber rifle at 50 meters. 45 teams took part, which shows how popular this traditional shooting is.

The big winner of the day is the “Stammtisch I” team, which took first place with an impressive 295.5 points. Also taking part are Stefan Spiegler, Fabian Schmid and Toni Leutenmaier, who deserve to take the winning crown. “Hubertus Shooting II” secured second place with 292.9 rings, represented by Christian Steidle, Patrick Müller and Andreas Glöckler. “Hubertus Shooting III” follows in third place with 291.7 rings, consisting of Martin Gerstlauer, Nadja Unger and Karin Gerstlauer.

Prizes and honors

The celebratory prize distribution took place in the fully occupied dining room in the clubs' house, which gave the event a festive setting. The winners not only received medals, but also meal vouchers and sausage baskets - a real treat! Particularly worth mentioning is the highest number of rings achieved by Manfred Zahn with 102.9 rings. The best “Blattl”, which Markus Zahn achieved with a 47-part piece, was also recognized accordingly.

The Biberach riflemen can look back on a long tradition. Eagle shooting based on the Ravensburg model was introduced as early as 1910. This lasted for a few decades, but was converted to air rifles during the Third Reich. Beaver shooting has also developed over the years: in 1950 it was introduced with a crossbow on a 12-ring target, although originally only male students from grade 8 were allowed to take part. But in 1976, girls were also given the opportunity to shoot crossbows - a step towards equality that still resonates today.https://www.biberacher-schuetzenfest.com/biberschiessen/

In summary, the Small Bore Village Championship not only provided exciting competition, but also provided a beautiful opportunity to strengthen the community and keep traditions alive. The Biberach shooters and their commitment are a role model for many who uphold the value of working together.
