Investment boom in Ortenau: KfW funding is increasing significantly!
There is reason to be happy in Ortenau: the KfW funding figures are increasing again, and with them the willingness to invest in the region. The CDU Bundestag member Yannick Bury recently made this positive development public and emphasized that the funding amount in the Ortenau district has increased by around a third. The increase in the Emmendingen district is particularly noteworthy, which is even more impressive at 38%.
A look at the numbers shows that the largest increase was recorded in the Mittelstandsbank business area. The funding in Ortenau has increased by almost 75% and in the Emmendingen district it has even reached a new record with 97%. The focus on the environment, sustainability as well as energy efficiency and renewable energies plays a central role.
Positive trends in business investment
The increasing numbers are not just limited to subsidies for private customers. Start-up and business investments are also increasing noticeably. Significant growth can be observed in the Ortenau district and the Emmendingen district, which is beneficial for economic growth. The number of subsidized housing units is also experiencing an upswing, with the subsidy amount in the Emmendingen district increasing by an impressive 55%.
However, the view of the municipal and social infrastructure is somewhat more differentiated. Ortenau receives around two thirds more funding for public infrastructure compared to the previous year. In contrast, the Emmendingen district shows a declining amount of funding, which may be due to expiring projects. Bury has already pointed out the financial difficulties of many municipalities and is calling for increased political measures to find supportive solutions.
KfW – supporter for future-oriented projects
KfW, which does not maintain direct contact with private customers and does not have any branches, supports numerous projects through its extensive refinancing activities. In 2024, around EUR 78.1 billion was raised on the international capital markets, including EUR 12.2 billion through “Green Bonds – Made by KfW”. KfW has its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main and employs over 8,800 people worldwide. The bank has a clear goal: to support people and institutions that think forward-looking, which is also reflected in the increasing funding figures in Ortenau.
Overall, there is a positive picture for economic development in Ortenau and Emmendingen. We are excited to see what further developments await us in the coming years.
