Capsizing disaster in Rheinau: police and fire brigade in large-scale operation!

On Sunday morning there was a large operation by the police, fire brigade, DLRG and emergency services in Rheinau-Linx. The reason for this was a capsized boat in the area of a lake on the “Eschweg” street regiotrends.de reported. A 69-year-old witness alerted the authorities around 7:30 a.m. and reported shocking discoveries: an upturned boat and clothing on the shore could be seen. Concerns about a possible swimming accident didn't make the emergency services hesitate for long.

A total of 54 emergency services were mobilized to examine the situation in detail and rule out all possible scenarios. The lake was thoroughly searched using thermal imaging cameras and sonar. Divers were also deployed to ensure that no one was in the water. After more than two hours of intensive searching, operations management was able to give the all-clear: no evidence of a person in the water was found.

Police reconnaissance work

The investigation into this case quickly gained momentum. The boat owner was identified and confirmed that he had properly tied his boat the previous evening. What is interesting is the anonymous email that arrived at 11:30 p.m. and reported that two teenagers had loosened the boat and caused it to capsize. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the incident, which the emergency services were relieved to note.

The Kehl police station has started the investigation and is making an appeal to the public. Any relevant information is welcome by calling 07851 893-0 so that the circumstances of this incident can be fully clarified.
