Freiburg overtakes Munich: second place in the city brand ranking!
Freiburg im Breisgau shines in a new evaluation: In a current city brand ranking study, the city reached second place, overtaking Munich. Only Hamburg, the pearl on the Elbe, is ahead of Freiburg. Mayor Martin W. W. Horn emphasizes that this success underlines the quality of life and innovative strength of the city. Freiburg's reputation and attractiveness for families is particularly noticeable, as the city takes first place here. In the overall assessment of the environment and climate protection, Freiburg also tops the list - one reason why more and more people are choosing to stay in the city.
Freiburg's appeal extends beyond the city limits and attracts both skilled workers and tourists. As the managing director of Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik Marketing GmbH (FWTM), Hanna Böhme, emphasizes, strategic investments in sustainability and family-friendliness have positive effects on Freiburg's economic development. These measures also support the tourism sector, which benefits the city's residents and entrepreneurs.
Quality of life that convinces
Freiburg takes second place in the 30 to 49 age group and also second place among those over 50. Those under 30 are a little more reserved and only rank fourth behind Hamburg, Munich and Cologne. Nevertheless, the city remains consistently in the top 3 in terms of quality of life and likeability - a sign that people like the mix of culture, nature and a lively university atmosphere.
The picturesque view of the Minster Tower at sunset and the inviting old town near the Black Forest are real highlights that Freiburg has to offer. Here the residents' joy of life is combined with a colorful, cosmopolitan cultural landscape. The Münstermarkt, known as the Cathedral Market, is a popular meeting place where visitors and locals can exchange ideas with traders and enjoy the city's special atmosphere. In order to further promote this positive development, FWTM managing director Jens Mohrmann encourages all actors to take advantage of the opportunities in settlement policy and city marketing.
Inviting views and future prospects
The positive balance of the ranking not only provides tailwind for the economy, but also makes Freiburg an even more attractive location for companies and skilled workers. The city's strategic positioning as a brand ambassador will be crucial to further strengthen Freiburg's presence as a place worth living in. In view of the current achievements and the unbroken quality of life, it is to be hoped that Freiburg will continue to be popular in the future.
