Everyday hero: 16-year-old receives civil courage award for intervention!
On Tuesday evening, 13 committed citizens were awarded the 2025 Civil Courage Prize at the district office in Tauberbischofsheim. Among the award winners is 16-year-old Mohammed-Ali Fares from Bad Mergentheim. His courageous intervention in July of this year when he came to the aid of a mother who was abusing her 6-year-old child earned him this honor. Mohammed-Ali faced the situation and tried to bring the mother to reason.
Unfortunately, he was no longer able to get on the train when the family arrived. Nevertheless, he didn't give up and informed the police about the incident, which led to a criminal complaint being filed against the mother and her partner. The youth welfare office has also become involved in the case to ensure that the child's well-being is not at risk. The Civil Courage Prize has been awarded in the Main-Tauber district since 2011 and honors people who courageously stand up for others. The winners receive a certificate and a shopping voucher worth 100 euros.
