Hailstorm devastates Kehl: trees fall, roads blocked!
A violent hailstorm hit Kehl on Monday, July 21, 2025, causing significant devastation. Nature showed its unpredictable side when the storm hit the city with strong winds and hailstones around 3 p.m. According to Schwarzwaelder-Bote, the situation was particularly dramatic on Gudrunstrasse, where a tree fell on two parked cars. There was also an incident on Hafenstrasse: a fallen tree blocked the road between the roundabout and Graudenzer-Strasse.
The local fire departments had their hands full. On Hermann-Dietrich-Strasse, a large, broken branch had to be removed in order to reopen traffic. Fortunately, according to kehl.de there were no injuries to report. The sleek firefighters sawed through the fallen tree on the corner of Gudrunstrasse and Siegfriedstrasse, while the municipal depot worked flat out to repair the damage in the following hours.
Extent of damage
The storm left its mark on many areas of the city. Branches were torn down and lay across streets, which not only restricted the mobility of Kiel's citizens, but also caused chaos. As already announced, the municipal depot will take care of collecting the broken branches.
- Bäume und Äste blockieren mehrere Straßen.
- Besonders betroffen: Gudrunstraße, Hafenstraße und Hermann-Dietrich-Straße.
The responsibility for repairing the damage lies with the Kehler depot, which has already started organizing and carrying out the clean-up work. This represents a difficult time for residents to cope with the inconvenience caused by the storm. But the dedication and efficiency of the local authorities and the fire department give hope that the city will soon be completely restored.
In summary, it can be said that Kehl is currently confronted with the aftermath of a sudden and violent storm, which once again shows how much influence the weather can have on people's everyday lives. Everyone involved hopes for quick progress in the clean-up work and an early return to normality.
