Fire brigade festival and celebration weekend: Pforzheim celebrates in a big way!

Last weekend Pforzheim defended its reputation as a vibrant event center because the city had a lot to offer. Under the motto “Fire Brigade Day” and many other events, visitors flocked to the various performances and festivities. PZ News reports on a colorful program that had something for every age group.

As part of “Fire Brigade Day”, which took place on July 12th, citizens had the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of professional firefighting. At the measuring site at the main fire station, the event offered an impressive performance display with numerous fire engines and impressive demonstration exercises. Visitors were able to find out about the work of the volunteer fire department and get involved themselves - from technology for young and old to delicious offerings from food trucks. The fire department music provided the right atmosphere until late in the evening. The aim of the day was to highlight the value of firefighting and the importance of the volunteer fire department. The city of Pforzheim had done a great job to give the citizens a lively insight into the everyday working lives of firefighters.

An anniversary and many celebrations

Fire Department Day fell during a weekend full of other celebrations. The program also included the fashion show of the Faculty of Design, which promoted both young talent and creative work. Furthermore, the 750th anniversary of Neuenbürg was celebrated, which had further traction. New trends could also be experienced during the hit party with Papis Pumpels in Kieselbronn, so there was musical variety.

The weekend offered even more highlights: A concert entitled “Freedom – A Tribute to George Michael” attracted numerous fans, and the village festival in Enzberg was a complete success with the best weather. Dobel Beach also celebrated a successful premiere as a new attraction for guests and locals. You could say that the streets in Wiernsheim were bursting with life - the street festival attracted thousands of citizens and guests and rounded off the festival weekend.

A special birthday child

In the midst of all these festivities, a special man was honored: Bruno Schmidt, the oldest pensioner of the Pforzheim professional fire department, celebrated his 90th birthday on Saturday. The IBB Enzkreis reported on the eventful career of Schmidt, who retired in 1995. His services to the fire department and the city were recognized during a visit by fire department commander Sebastian Fischer and Ralph Zimmermann, spokesman for the aging and honors department. Together with his son Stefan, who recently retired, the Schmidt family has served Pforzheim for a total of almost 60 years.

The weekend's celebrations and honors were a powerful testament to how important the fire department and community events are to the city and its residents. Pforzheim has once again presented itself as a place of tradition, togetherness and joy.
