Schussental Viaduct: Ravensburg's road construction is delayed until November!
In Ravensburg everything is different - since July 30th, the eastern ramp of the B 30 Ravensburg-Süd junction has been difficult to reach. The Tübingen regional council has worked intensively on repairing the Schussental viaduct, but the work is taking longer than expected. Construction was originally scheduled to last until October 31st, but now an unexpectedly high need for renovations means that the building will be extended until November 21st. This was reported by the Schwäbische Zeitung.
During the work, numerous additional areas of damage were discovered in the concrete of the carriageway. These additional repairs not only make the construction period longer, but also entail higher costs, which now total 1.2 million euros and are financed by the federal government. In addition, with the expansion of the work, the gradient will be adjusted for the new traffic routing in the ramp area of the B 30/B 33.
Details about the traffic disruptions
The construction site affects both the entrance and exit of the B 30, which means a major change for commuters and residents. Traffic from Meersburg towards Ulm, Reutlingen and Wangen is routed from Bavendorf via the K 7980 and K 7981 to the B 30, “Oberzell-Karrer” junction. Traffic on the B 30 from Friedrichshafen and the B 467 from Lindau in the direction of Ravensburg-Süd and Ravensburg-Weststadt also have to be rerouted, from Eschach via the old B 30, Torkenweiler to the B 33.
Road users from Ravensburger Südstadt can also expect changes; You should navigate via Jahnstrasse and Karlstrasse to the “Ravensburg-Nord” junction. Diversion routes have already been marked and will remain in place throughout the extended construction period. In any case, sufficient understanding and flexibility on the part of drivers is ensured, because all of these measures cannot be easily avoided.
Current construction work
The plan currently includes the construction of traffic islands, the installation of structural caps and surfacing work on the viaduct. In order to keep traffic flowing in the future, in addition to the diversions already mentioned, there will also be new marking and road equipment work.
The work, which is in full swing, is helping to increase traffic safety and improve the infrastructure in the long term. However, drivers should continue to follow the specified detours to avoid traffic jams and delays. Anyone who travels by bike or on foot will certainly recognize the great advantage of the traffic islands created, which could increase safety when crossing the streets in the future.
Although the work appears stressful and lengthy, it represents a necessary investment in the quality of the traffic routes. Everyone involved has shown a good hand and is committed to a future-proof traffic area.
