The Bächtlefest in Bad Saulgau opened its doors on Thursday evening and transformed the city into a celebration landscape for five days. There was a happy reunion with old friends and new faces under the marquee roof, which was filled to capacity. Mayor Raphael Osmakowski, who only needed two taps when tapping his first barrel, officially kicked off this special event. Interestingly, he exceptionally took a traditional test sip and toasted those present with a mug of Spezi.
An emotional moment was the final tapping of the barrel by Mayor Doris Schröter, who is leaving office after 16 years. She was honored in rhyme by Richard Frey, President of the Citizens' Committee, and received a flower arrangement and a beer tap hammer with a dedication of thanks. The Bad Saulgau town music also contributed to the festive atmosphere and provided the appropriate musical background.
