Geisingen and Emmingen: Road maintenance locations are about to close!
What is happening in the Tuttlingen district? The district has ambitious plans, particularly for road maintenance, which will be decided in the coming years. There are currently four locations: the main office in Spaichingen and the bases in Wehingen-Harras, Geisingen and Emmingen-Liptingen. The road maintenance department's employees are responsible for a variety of tasks, from road repairs and traffic light maintenance to green maintenance and winter service. They do this in times when the road infrastructure is often put to the test.
It has now been decided that the bases in Geisingen and Emmingen will be closed. Instead, the district plans to work at a new location. The foundations for this should be laid soon, as funds have already been earmarked for the purchase of a property in the next district budget. However, the exact location is still unclear, in part because details such as costs and timing are still being coordinated.
Investments and changes
While the existing bases no longer offer sufficient future prospects - after all, the properties in Geisingen and Emmingen are in need of renovation and are only rented from the state of Baden-Württemberg - the new location is taking a different direction. The new location is planned for the southern part of the district and is intended to ensure optimal care. In addition, the 16 employees who are currently employed in Geisingen and Emmingen will continue to be employed at the new location.
A cost-effective redesign of the Heuberg location is also planned, which will be redesigned for several million euros in the coming years. The managing director of the road maintenance department is sure that these investments are necessary to maintain a reliable road infrastructure. The employees continue to be supported by twelve external companies that operate equally from all bases. Changes in responsibilities are therefore also to be expected in order to meet the new challenges.
