Tuttlingen students inspire with innovative projects at the Science Days!
The Sciencedays took place in Europapark from October 22nd to 23rd, 2025, at which the SFZ Tuttlingen location was represented with an exciting stand. Scholarship holders from the MikroMakroMint program were able to present their innovative projects here. Particularly in the spotlight was Diana Plett from the Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium Tuttlingen, who not only attracted many curious eyes with her project “Rubber production from Russian dandelions”, but also won a special prize at the state competition Jugend forscht Junior Swabian reports.
In addition, Mahbube Amiri, Chloé Michaut and Eyituoyo Omagbemi, all from the same school, presented their project “Nutrition of the Future”. They examined the growth behavior of protein- and fiber-rich grains and butterflies under climatic challenges. With these topics, the students not only show creativity, but also a great sense of responsibility for the future.
Diverse projects and activities
Thomas Bühler from the Ferdinand von Steinbeis School and Ole Cabarth from the Immanuel Kant High School presented a joint project on covered parking spaces that can be used for alternative energies and designed as bee pastures. Supervisor Katharina Kaltenbach was impressed by the young researchers’ presentations and discussions.
But not only the classic research projects were not neglected: Anne Welte and Linda Witzig, who are active as part of the EU project ICSE Science Factory at PH-Freiburg, offered elementary school students the opportunity to build balloon rocket cars. A total of 18 action-oriented MINT workshops were developed for primary schools in Tuttlingen, which are being implemented in 27 institutions.
Perspectives for the future
Another important event will take place from September 10th to 12th, 2025 at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg. The PerspectiveForum Career Paths is dedicated to the topic of “Rethinking the energy transition: from theory to practice”. This event is sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and offers 39 Jugend forscht alumni the opportunity to exchange ideas about the current challenges of the energy transition and get to know innovative projects. A varied program with keynote speeches, workshops and networking opportunities is intended to help participants make professional contacts, such as Youth Research Foundation emphasized.
Finally, we also look beyond the borders of our region: After the death of James Earl Carter, the 39th President of the USA, a commemorative coin is expected that will commemorate his contribution. Similar to George H. W. Bush, this coin could likely appear in 2026 or early 2027, as a rule states that presidents should be honored at least two years after their death. This coin would fill an interesting gap in the collector's album between Presidents Ford and Reagan, according to information from Cointalk.
