Exciting things are happening in film and comedy in Albstadt! David Rothe, a creative mind and director from the region, has big plans: He is working on a new comedy series called “The Golden Craft”. This idea came about while filming recruiting spots for craft businesses, with Rothe noting that there was little humorous content about the crafts that really appealed to audiences.
His goal is to produce the series for a streaming service, and the first shoot will start in December 2025 on the “Sattler-Areal” in Albstadt. Rothe can look back on many years of experience; He runs his own film production under the name “Rothe Strip” and has already won prizes at the “Arts and Film” Festival Mannheim. His previous work has therefore not gone unnoticed.
A familiar face in the lead role
Rothe was able to get Martin Luding, with whom he has already worked in previous projects, to play the lead role in the series. The female lead role remains a secret - over 40 women have already signed up for the casting and the team is still looking for extras to bring the story to life.
The focus of the plot is Norbert “Günni” Günther, a craftsman whose business gets into trouble and finds himself involved in an EU funding program. The script for the pilot episode, which has already been completed, promises a humorous examination of the challenges that craftsmen often face.
A creative team behind the camera
David Rothe has put together a creative team consisting of various experts. He began his career with stop-motion films and gained experience in New York City on a Hollywood production. This diverse background story shows that Rothe has a knack for exciting projects and is ready to bring a breath of fresh air into the world of crafts. The anticipation for “The Golden Craft” is growing and we are excited to see how this innovative concept will develop.
