On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, around 9:30 a.m., a 44-year-old man from the Altötting district when driving a self-driving wheel loader caught a 73-year-old pedestrian from frontal. The incident happened in the parking lot of a Penny market in Jahnstrasse. Despite immediate resuscitation measures by the emergency services, the woman died at the scene of the accident, as reported.

The wheel loader had apparently overlooked the pedestrian. The immediately alarmed emergency services from the Altötting Police Inspection took up the investigation, while the Burgkirchen volunteer fire brigade with five vehicles and 15 emergency services came to technical support and securing the accident site. In coordination with the Traunstein public prosecutor's office, an accident analytical and technical report was commissioned.
