Christmas tree season in Amberg: closures and parking bans from November 3rd!

Christmas is just around the corner, and that doesn't just mean festive spirit, but also a lot of organizational challenges. A very special spectacle awaits us in Amberg from November 3, 2025: The city has announced the arrival of two magnificent Christmas trees for the market square and Malteserplatz. However, this careful preparation also brings with it some traffic disruptions.

Like that Upper Palatinate Echo reported, the transport of the Christmas tree for Malteserplatz will begin on November 3, 2025 at 6 a.m. from a private garden on Blößnerstrasse. During this time there will be a partial closure of Blößnerstrasse between Katharinenfriedhofstrasse and Katharinenhöhe. There is also an absolute ban on stopping at Malteserplatz for road users until around 11 a.m.

On the same day, the tree for the market square is also felled - in a garden on Selgradstrasse. There will be an absolute ban on stopping on Selgradstrasse and Hörburgerstrasse for the felling work and the subsequent removal. The tree will be transported to the market square on November 4th, where it will then be set up. In the morning there may be short-term closures on Bahnhofstrasse between Obere and Untere Nabburger Strasse.

The city administration will put up signs in a timely manner to inform the public about the measures. Affected residents can look forward to advance information, while traffic control and diversion will be taken over by the police. A comprehensive security concept ensures that the Christmas tree arrival is well organized for everyone present.

Important tips for transporting Christmas trees

The sales period for the popular Christmas trees begins by the first Advent at the latest. Anyone who buys a tree this year should adhere to a few rules that must be observed in Germany. According to a report from ADAC It is important to transport the tree safely. The trunk must always point forward, especially if it is transported on the roof. It is important to use a roof stand and place a blanket under the tree to avoid paint damage. Tension straps are necessary because rubber expanders are not sufficient for this.

To transport inside the car, the seats must be folded down and the trunk attached to the backrest. A wooden board can optimize load distribution. Anyone traveling by bike must take similar safety precautions; Projection to the side of up to 40 cm is permitted as long as there are no obstructions to visibility.

But be careful: Improper security can result in a fine of 60 euros and one point in Flensburg. A tree that protrudes over one meter requires clearly visible identification - either with a red flag or a lamp. Otherwise, a fine may also apply here.

During the exciting pre-Christmas period, anyone transporting a tree should be well prepared. Whether setting it up in Amberg or transporting it in your own neighborhood - a little planning and consideration helps you to enjoy the anticipation of the festival undimmed.
