City Cycling 2025: Register and cycle for climate protection in Bamberg!
Finally the time has come! CITY CYCLING in the city and district of Bamberg is just around the corner. From June 23rd to July 13th, 2025 the motto will be “Ride along, stay fit!”. The opening event begins on June 23rd at 4 p.m. at Maxplatz, where Mayor Andreas Starke and District Administrator Johann Kalb give the official starting signal. This initiative is not only a great reason to get out your bike, but also a great way to do something for your health and the environment.
This year the shared bike tour leads along the canal to the water protection area and on to the waterworks in the city forest. At the end of the tour, a stop is planned at the Gasthof Schiller in Wernsdorf - the perfect place to end the day with a good meal.
It's time to get involved!
Whether you are an individual or a team with friends, family, clubs, schools or colleagues – everyone is welcome to come along. The focus is not on competition, but rather on having fun cycling and discovering new paths. Nevertheless, there are prizes for the most committed teams and individual cyclists, which certainly increases motivation. The distances covered can easily be entered in the free CITY CYCLING app or in the mileage log. Registration is possible until the last day of the 21 days of action, so that everyone can still take part.
The program doesn’t just apply to “normal” bikes. People with Pedelecs, i.e. e-bikes, are also welcome, even if their cycle kilometers are not recorded separately. This means everyone cycles together, regardless of whether they use a conventional bike or an assisted e-bike. The aim is to easily motivate as many people as possible to cycle and thus make a contribution to promoting cycling and climate protection, as stadtRADLER.de emphasizes.
Climate protectors on wheels
Cycling plays an essential role in implementing the federal government’s climate protection goals. To this end, the ministry provides funds for the promotion and financing of cycling. In the coming years, various programs, such as the “Cycling Model Project” by 2029 and the “Cycle Network Germany” by 2029, will help to improve the infrastructure for cyclists. BMVI emphasizes that the construction and maintenance of cycle paths on federal roads are financed directly by the federal government, which is intended to ensure the financial stability of cycling promotion in the long term.
So get on your bike and be part of CITY CYCLING 2025! It's a wonderful opportunity to be active, meet new people and take a small step towards a more sustainable future.
