Shock in Deggendorf: Man injured by blank gun during police operation!
An incident of shocking intensity took place in downtown Deggendorf on Monday evening: a 36-year-old man was injured by a gun. Residents who heard the sounds of shots or bangs found the injured man and alerted the police. They reacted promptly and initiated an extensive police operation, which led to the large-scale cordoning off of the area around the Färbergraben. A police helicopter was also used to find the suspects. Bayerischer Rundfunk reports that the police were finally able to arrest two suspects, aged 26 and 27, around 11 p.m.
The investigation is in full swing and it remains unclear how exactly the dispute between the injured man and the two suspects developed. Interestingly, the victim, a European living in Deggendorf, was not seriously injured in the incident and was able to leave the clinic on Tuesday. According to initial information, the injuries indicated the use of a blank weapon, which, as it turned out, can cause significant wounds even through direct physical contact.
Suspects in custody
The two suspects initially have no connection to the injured man. After her arrest, arrest warrants were issued against her on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. They were brought before the judge on Tuesday afternoon and are now in custody in various prisons. During a search of the 27-year-old's apartment, a potential murder weapon, a blank gun, was found, which further fuels the investigation, as Bürgerblick reports.
Public safety guaranteed
Police assured the public that there was never any danger to the public. Nevertheless, there was speculation on social networks that fueled fears. To counteract this uncertainty, a press team from the Lower Bavaria Police Headquarters was on site to answer media inquiries. The exact sequence of events, particularly where the argument between the men began, is still being investigated, with Maria-Ward-Platz being thrown around as a possible starting point.
