Zorneding loses to Aschheim: coach praises despite 0-3 defeat!

It won't be easy to turn things around in the East Football District League. SB DJK Rosenheim had to learn this the hard way at the weekend when they lost 3-0 to TSV Zorneding. After the game, Zorneding's assistant coach Florian Heppert commented on his team's performance. He thought that the result was perhaps a bit too high, but acknowledged that the victory for Aschheim was certainly justified. “In the first half we were strong, fought well and set really dangerous accents,” said Heppert. But the opposing defense was successfully overcome shortly before half-time - the 1-0 for Aschheim fell when the Zornedinger defense was not on the post.

After the break, Aschheim showed more power and increased the lead to 2-0 after a long throw-in. Despite being clearly behind, Zorneding continued to fight and refused the negative feeling that arose. The 3-0 finally came after a loss of the ball, which cost the team from Zorneding dearly. It was clear to Heppert: “Against a team like Aschheim, you need a really good day to take points.” Despite the defeat, he found a lot of positive things in his boys' performance over the first 45 minutes.

Rosenheim fights, but remains desperate

The second leg against TSV Zorneding was not just a harmless performance, but a real roller coaster ride of emotions for the Rosenheimers. Coach Patrick Zimpfer saw the defeat as deserved because his team weakened significantly in the second half and made too many mistakes. “We were on equal terms in the first half, but we lacked the composure in front of the goal,” admitted Zimpfer. Tragic individual mistakes characterized the team's last games and meant that Zorneding was able to consistently exploit the defensive vulnerability.

The league at a glance

The encounter shows once again that the East Football District League is a tough place, especially in this new season, which started the 2025/26 season on Thursday with an opening game between SV Mistelgau and SV Waischenfeld. The league has changed a little, because two teams from the state league, FC Trogen and SV Mitterteich, had to make the bitter transition to the district league, while three promoted teams from the district league dared to make the jump to the upper house: TSV Obernsees, TuSSchauenstein and SV Waldershof. While some are living the dream, others are fighting for survival.

TSV Zorneding and SB DJK Rosenheim now have to prepare for their upcoming encounters, because the relegation battle is merciless and every point counts. It remains to be seen whether the teams will learn from these sometimes instructive defeats and turn things around in the next games.

By the way, it should be mentioned that VfB Forstinning remains unbeaten in the last few games and is looking good. Coach Gerhard Lösch is optimistic that his team can continue their performance in the second half of the season.
