Insolvency shock for Erlangen: Defacto GmbH takes on new paths!
There are currently tumultuous developments in Erlangen. Defacto GmbH, an established company with around 150 employees, has filed for bankruptcy. Insolvency administrator Volker Böhm now faces the challenge of steering the company's fortunes. The main reason for the financial difficulties is unforeseeable declines in sales, which have led to a significant liquidity gap. What employees now have to prepare for remains exciting, according to a report from In Franconia.
However, the VerticalAds Group from Nuremberg quickly took the initiative and took over parts of Defacto GmbH as part of an asset deal that was completed on November 3, 2025. They want to continue the technical expertise and proven systems of Defacto GmbH, including Oracle and Microsoft integrations as well as the company's own loyalty engine. A considerable part of the know-how remains at both locations in Erlangen, even if a third of the workforce is not taken over Press portal.
The outlook for employees
The information about the planned cuts is probably an unpleasant shock for Defacto employees. In particular, the areas of administration, ServiceNow and business consulting will no longer be continued. “So far there have been no offers for the workforce to take over customer service and business consulting,” reports Böhm. In a bright spot, the subsidiaries, DEFACTO BeOne and Cintellic Consulting Group, remain unaffected by the bankruptcy.
The VerticalAds Group has shown a decent growth rate in recent years. In 2024, the company achieved sales of 156 million euros and employed over 200 people. With this takeover, the aim is to expand services along the customer journey and offer data-driven solutions.
Technological progress remains
The merger will ensure that the technological solutions that many Defacto GmbH customers value will continue to be operated. The integration of the Defacto team should also help to optimize the services offered. VerticalAds aims to expand the existing customer base through improved, customer-centric models, as in In Franconia can be read.
These developments are not only important locally, but reflect a trend across the industry, where companies are increasingly relying on technology to remain competitive in their range of services. The integration of innovative solutions remains the key to success in the dynamic world of performance marketing and, last but not least, there is also the urge to secure attractive jobs in a demanding market.
