New youth paradise at Neuhof train station: sports, street art and events!
A lot is happening in the exciting city of Hof: A new, urban leisure area at Neuhof train station is taking shape. Between the theater, the Freedom Hall and the KlangManufaktur, the location, which is located directly in front of the historic station building, is to be designed specifically for the young generation. This is a welcome addition to the existing leisure area at the Eisteich, where young people can already spend their free time.
The conversion of the area in front of the youth association house, where the Hof city youth group is also active, began in May 2025. The aim of the new area is to create a diverse range of leisure activities that takes into account the needs and wishes of young people in Hof. The city investment amounts to 250,000 euros, while the funding offensive supports Northeast Bavaria with 2.25 million euros.
Diverse leisure options
The planned facilities are more than promising. A multi-sport field that can be used for street basketball and recreational soccer will be equipped with lighting so that games can also be played in the evenings. There is also a calisthenics facility and a table tennis area, which are intended for the physically active among young people. In order to take creativity into account, free-standing legal walls will also be set up that graffiti artists can use for artistic development. The first walls have already been designed by the artist Johannes Engelhardt, supported by Sparkasse Hochfranken.
In addition, a pergola, benches and attractive green areas are planned, which invite you to use the area for relaxation. A container stage is planned for events, which will provide space for small open-air concerts or youth events. Bicycle racks and drinking fountains round off the overall offering, while path lighting ensures safety.
Graffiti and Art: A Space for Creativity
The concept of graffiti legal walls is particularly interesting. Once the area is completed, interested parties can let their creative ideas run wild here. This happens under a code of honor that is developed in collaboration with representatives of the graffiti scene. Graffiti has become increasingly recognized as an art form in recent years, and the new facility in Hof could be an example for other cities on how to deal with the creative energy of young people. Workshops led by experienced graffiti educators can help young people explore their talents while understanding the legal framework. The aim is not only to enable young people to design their spaces, but also to promote appreciation for other people's property and to train them in their social responsibility. This means they can actively shape their living space, which is an attractive medium for creative development.
Completion of the new leisure area is planned for spring 2026. This creates a further quality of life for young people in Hof and provides a platform that offers both sporting and creative opportunities for development. At a time when young people often don't know where to spend their free time, this new area offers the chance for active participation and shared experiences.
