High school graduation story: Kronach's last G8 class celebrates its graduation!
June 29, 2025 was a historic day for the Kaspar-Zeuß-Gymnasium in Kronach, because the last G8 year class said goodbye on that day. All 25 students successfully passed their Abitur and thus completed their eight years of schooling at the KZG. Headmistress Claudia Metzner was pleased with the success of the year and highlighted the special circumstances of this graduating class.
Many of these graduates came from an introductory class who had previously obtained an intermediate educational qualification at other types of schools such as the M-train of middle school, business school or secondary school. Student transition and engagement are special achievements that should not go unsung. With this year, the KZG has not only produced talented but also versatile personalities.
Another G8 conclusion in Bavaria
Not far from Kronach, the farewell of the last G8 class took place on June 28, 2025 at the Korbinian-Aigner-Gymnasium (KAG) in Dorfen. 62 graduates were present at this ceremony and received their certificates in a festive setting. Headmaster Andrea Hafner described the class as “pioneers” and “captains” of their lives and celebrated the diversity of the graduates, including courageous students from introductory classes and repeaters.
The motto of the high school diploma was aptly “Abikalypse – The G8 is going down with us”. When the certificates were handed over on the red carpet, you could feel the anticipation of the graduates, which was also accompanied by a tradition: balloons with good wishes were released into the sky, while personal words from Deputy Mayor Petra Bauernfeind and Deputy District Administrator Rainer Mehringer gave them the incentive to go their own way and find joy in their career choice. A high school graduation ball that same evening rounded off the celebrations.
The national context of the education system
Such special qualifications are not just local events, they are also part of a larger picture in the German education system. The German education server offers comprehensive information on the areas of education and highlights how important the different types of schools are for the education of young people. This diversity promotes individual talents and training paths that will continue to exist in the future.
Overall, these qualifications show that education in the German system is diverse and dynamic. The farewell of the G8 classes represents a symbolic turning point, while the high school graduates go out into the world with new perspectives.
The exciting developments and stories surrounding the degrees of the last G8 cohorts in Kronach and Dorfen are just two of many examples that illustrate the commitment and diversity of the German education system. These students are not only representatives of their schools, but also future shapers of our society.
