Fascination with glass: Krej inspires in the Kronacher Kunstverein!

On July 3, 2025, the Kronacher Kunstverein's glass palace opened its doors for a very special exhibition. Despite the high summer temperatures, art lovers flocked to the opening to see the fascinating works of Katarzyna Krej to examine. Under the title “Fragile Wonders Made of Glass”, the elegance and versatility of glass art is impressively presented here.

The exhibition was officially opened on June 29, 2025. The focus here was on the ball, which from Krej's point of view was the perfect shape. As part of her latest collection, “Traces of Existence,” the artist addresses questions raised by the influence of artificial intelligence on our lives. Her reflections on the transience of existence, which she expresses in the form of balls and wreaths made of glass, are at least as interesting.

A spectacle of light and color

Visitors to the exhibition were able to experience a real spectacle of light and color. Krej describes her glass objects as intentionally imperfect to reflect the imperfection of the world. This small but subtle touch gives her sculptures a special depth that makes you think. The balls not only represent the beauty, but also the fragility of life.

The artist trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Poland and has received several prestigious awards such as the Creative Scholarship from the Polish Minister of Culture, which she received in 2024. She was also a member of the jury for the “2023 GAS Green Exhibition” in Seattle and has already presented her works in the publication New Glass Review of the Corning Museum of Glass in New York.

Reasonably connected and committed

Speaking of glass: The Glass Artists Association NRW e.V. is also committed to contemporary glass art. Here, around 30 glass artists engage in intensive exchange and dialogue. Regular workshops and an overview of current exhibitions always offer fresh inspiration and promote creative exchange among members.

Looking at Katarzyna Krej's impressive works of art and the vibrant community culture of the glass art scene, one thing is certain: interest in this art form remains high. The visitors not only took home an experience for the eyes, but also food for thought for the future.
