A healthy start to school in Stadtsteinach: fun and exercise for first graders!
An important signal for the health of our children was set today in Stadtsteinach. District Administrator Klaus Peter Söllner handed over new materials to the first graders, which marked the official starting signal for the school program in the Kulmbach district. He was accompanied by Mayor Roland Wolfrum, Rector Britta Schiele-Smeelen, Kerstin Zapf from the State Education Authority and Annekatrin Tauer and Ina Adamek from GesundheitregionPlus.
In the tranquil halls of the Stadtsteinach elementary school, Söllner emphasized the great importance of health and exercise for successful learning. A new brochure entitled “You are 1st Class” offers valuable tips on nutrition, exercise and mental well-being for children and their parents. In addition, the little school starters received an entry ticket to the German Steam Locomotive Museum in Neuenmarkt. This gesture is not only intended to promote learning, but also to provide incentives for active leisure activities.
Health as a focus
The aim of the Stadtsteinach primary school is to spread the Bavarian Prevention Plan. As part of this, all primary schools in the district will be provided with a material package that includes brochures, large posters, leaflets on the new “Adventure Trail through the Kulmbach District” and a museum entry ticket for each child. The initiative is part of the Gesund.Leben.Bayern funding program, which has been actively contributing to health promotion in the district since 2021. As stmgp.bayern.de reports, the program focuses on topics such as healthy eating, exercise and the responsible use of alcohol.
But the program goes far beyond elementary school. Health and well-being are emphasized in almost all areas of everyday school life. The support of the Bavarian Center for Prevention and Health Promotion (ZPG) shows how important health education is in schools. With various partners, we want to create a “good, healthy school” and ensure that the topics of nutrition, exercise, addiction prevention and teacher health are centrally integrated into the school concept. Further information is available at zpg-bayern.de.
A common goal
The project period extends over a school year, during which schools commit to implementing at least two projects from a comprehensive catalog of five subject areas. The range extends from behavior prevention to relationship prevention. By evaluating the projects at the end of the year, an award is made for the best schools, which is presented at a celebratory closing event.
The initiative is not only an important step in promoting health in schools, it also helps to promote collaborative learning and active engagement in one's own health. In a further step, the children should be encouraged to actively deal with their health, which is of great importance not only at school but also in everyday life.
In summary, it shows that the healthy start to school in Stadtsteinach is a step in the right direction. The idea of linking education and health creates a positive environment in which our children can be supported in the best possible way.
