New daycare center in Marktleugast: 75 places for a better future!

A new daycare center will soon be built in Marktleugast, offering space for 75 primary school children. From September 2026, the children will be laughing in new rooms because construction work has already begun. The renovation is taking place in the former primary and middle school premises and is scheduled to be completed at the end of August 2026. This positive development was confirmed by Finance State Secretary Martin Schöffel (CSU) and is part of the plan to expand childcare across the board in Bavaria in order to gradually fulfill the requirement for all-day care. Loud Frankenpost This will continue to meet the demand for childcare places.

The Free State of Bavaria is supporting this important project with 175,657 euros. Family Minister Ulrike Scharf emphasizes that expanding all-day care is a crucial task. The aim is to make it easier for families to combine work, family and care, shows bayern.de on. More than half of primary school children in Bavaria already use afternoon care, be it in after-school care centers or all-day schools. From the 2026/2027 school year, the legal right to all-day education and care will gradually come into force.

Increasing childcare rate in Bavaria

However, the challenges in child care are not new. Statistics from the Bavarian Ministry of Social Affairs show a clear increase in care rates in recent years. For children under three years of age the rate is now 38.3% and for school children it is as high as 57.5%. These increases are encouraging and reflect a growing awareness of the importance of early childhood and school care. These statistics are available in a current report stmas.bayern.de.

In detail, the number of children looked after has increased significantly in many areas: in after-school care there were only 48,064 places in 2010, while 66,746 will already be available in 2024. This shows that the needs-based expansion of childcare places is urgently needed in order to meet the requirements of modern families.

The development in Marktleugast is therefore part of a larger picture. The Free State is taking precautions to take the changing living conditions of families into account and to create fair and sufficient care options. The new daycare center is a further step in this direction and will not only strengthen the community's infrastructure, but also offer parents the opportunity to better combine work and family.
