Art and inclusion: Experience unique pieces from BILL Art at the Long Art Night!
The is located in the picturesque setting of Landsberg am Lech
BILL Art Workshop, a remarkable project that not only offers exceptional works of art, but also opens up perspective for people with special needs. This initiative celebrates the creativity and craftsmanship of up to 25 employees who work diligently on unique pieces that can be admired and purchased on September 20th during the Long Night of Art from 6:30 p.m. The products range from pastel-colored corner shelves and exclusive slippers to colorful cosmetic bags and weatherproof birdhouses made of untreated wood.
The BILL Art workshop is part of the non-profit organization Landsberg am Lech employment initiative, which was founded in 2011 and specializes in supporting people with disabilities and mental illnesses. The focus here is not only on artistic activity, but also on integration into social communities and work processes. In a protected environment, participants can work in various areas such as goods receipt, warehouse and customer contact, with the aim of building a meaningful daily structure and enabling participation in social life.
Art as a bridge to inclusion
A particularly important aspect of the BILL Art workshop is its contribution to inclusion, which is also promoted by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This agreement has been legally valid in Germany since 2009 and requires comprehensive measures to be taken to ensure equal treatment. This participation is also a central goal of the art scene, which is paying more and more attention to the inclusion of people with disabilities. Kubi reports that art and culture are important fields of action in which this discussion takes place and artists with disabilities must be supported.
The upcoming Long Art Night is the perfect platform to both present the great products and point out the importance of inclusion in art. Betina Ahmadyar from the multi-generational house and Dr. Cornelia Leutschaft from BILL provides insights into the work and objectives of the workshop. This is where art and social responsibility meet in an outstanding way.
